Fruits of Diversity Community Orchard — North Portland
Contact: vgardens@janusyouth.org
Work Party Schedule: 2nd Saturday of each month, 10am-1pm (unless otherwise noted).
Fruits of Diversity Community Orchard (FOD) in North Portland was created by and for the community with the goal to provide access to fresh fruit to residents of the Tamarack Apartments, New Columbia, and other North Portland community members while also cultivating community leaders and educational opportunities to learn about fruit production. Village Gardens manages the Orchard in collaboration with Portland Fruit Tree Project, and with support from Home Forward and East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District.
The orchard is home to over 48 fruit trees, dozens of edible shrubs, medicinal and culinary herbs, native plants for pollinators, and so much more. Each year, the orchard grows in maturity and productivity.
