Black Lives Matter

Friends,

We are joining our voices with the many organizations in our community who are heartbroken and angry at another senseless death in the Black community at the hands of police who are sworn to protect. At PFTP, we believe Black Lives Matter.

Our mission is about building community up and equitable food systems. Food systems are critical to feed our bodies, our spirits, and our communities, but remain another place where people are historically marginalized through systems of white supremacy and systemic racism.

PFTP is committed to using this tragedy, and its predecessors, to do better. We trust in all of you to help hold us accountable to that commitment. If you have ideas for things you’d like to see on our list of actions, please email me at heather@portlandfruit.org or join the conversation on our Share in the Harvest facebook group.

We hope you are committed to doing the same. Here is a list of places to start, compiled by activists and artists Sarah Sophie Flicker and Alyssa Klein and shared by our friends at Zenger Farms:

Here is a list of anti-racism resources compiled by activists and artists for reading, listening, and watching.

In solidarity,

Heather and the PFTP Board of Directors
