Double Your Power

Spring Appeal - Matching donor: Make your gift count twice!

Today, May 5th, is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity, as a response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

People around the world are joining together to collectively support the community causes and organizations they value. We have been heartened at our community’s response to our spring campaign! Despite having their own issues at home to deal with, whether it’s job loss or postponement, struggles at home trying to work remotely and oversee their kids’ education, or just general stress and anxiety - we are seeing new people join as members of Portland Fruit Tree Project, or contributing the one time gifts they are able, offering up their skills as volunteers, and offering their trees for harvest when the time comes.

All of you who support us, however you can, have seen our impact. In our 13 years of existence, we have helped elderly people care for trees they are no longer able to harvest themselves and see that produce, grown with love over decades, returned to community members who often struggle to supply their families with food (let alone pesticide-free fruit). We have run workshops and created resources that people can use to harvest and care for their own trees to build community resilience.

Portland Fruit Tree Project remains a critical organization and we know that what we can provide - and teach - will be even more so in the coming years.

Each of us is doing what we can to ensure our community remains resilient and as strong as possible on the other side of COVID-19. We are excited to announce the addition of a matching donor - Welcome to PDX Realty, who is generously matching up to $500 in donations during this appeal.

We know that not everyone is in a place to contribute, but if you are able, thanks to their generosity your donation will go twice as far.
