Join Portland Fruit Tree Project and Oregon State University Expert Preservationist Danita Macy at the Food Innovation Center to learn the "why", the "how" and all of the "musts" (along with tips and tricks!) to do safe canning at home.
Hands-on jam making and best practices will be covered, and attendees will take home 2 jars each from each of the classes of jam made from fruit harvested from the urban canopy - the rest of the jars will go to serve other PFTP community programs and fundraisers. TICKETS HERE!
This is a sliding scale donation based event for Portland Fruit Tree Project, as we seek to bring educational content to the public while covering our costs, please consider the "green bottle" graphic, included in the event photos, when making your ticketing selection.: )
Fruit varieties are TBD based on the weather, and harvest dependent (contact Kathryn@portlandfruit.org to bring your own):
August 15th - Possibly Plums!
September 19th - Apple and maybe a Bounty of Berries!
November 9th - Quince-Time and Perhaps Persimmon!
