Ways to Volunteer for PFTP

Volunteer at a Backyard Harvest

  1. Create a profile in our harvest system HERE, where you can sign up for shifts as harvests are posted throughout the season!

  2. Be sure to fill out the availability section of your profile, as you will only receive invitations to harvests that fit your schedule.

Volunteer by Indexing Fruit Trees

This is a great volunteer role for people who like data, like to talk to people, and want to be a part of a community science project. Learn more here.

Volunteer at Outreach Events

We are always in need of people to represent PFTP at tabling events throughout Portland! Check the events calendar to see where we’re at next and to sign up!

Volunteer at Community Orchards

Our partner Community Orchards each host regular work parties where volunteers are always welcome! Activities include pruning, mulching, weeding, and irrigation maintenance - bring a water bottle and closed-toe shoes, and the amazing volunteer leaders will show you what to do! Find dates and sign up at the events calendar.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering in other capacities? Fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch! We are excited to engage your help in things like marketing/social media, video creation, storytelling, project management, graphic design, data management, volunteer coordination, or more! We’re excited to help you find the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

We are also very open to internship opportunities. Just let us know what you’re interested in and we can talk options.

Internships and Professional Development

We love being a place for people to experiment with their professional development as it relates to our mission. Internships are tailored to each person interested in working with us after a brief one-on-one meeting to learn about goals, time commitment, and work style. If it feels like a good fit on both sides, we identify a project that meets your goals and ours. These opportunities are open to students, graduates, or others interested in talking. We are happy to do the work required if you are looking to get school credit, but it’s not necessary to be connected to a school.

Because everyone has a life outside of their time with us, most roles work remotely, length of commitment varies based on person and project, and weekly time commitment tends to range from 2-10hrs per week.

Following successful project completion, we are happy to write recommendations, be an ongoing reference, connect you with people that might be good career connections, give resume/cover letter recommendations, etc. as is helpful.
