Harvesting Parties

The 2010 Harvesting Season is underway!

Harvesting Parties bring people together to pick fruit that would otherwise go to waste, and make it available to people in need. Half of the fruit goes to a local food bank, and the rest goes home with harvest participants.

Harvesting Parties are open to anyone, and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You are encouraged to sign up for harvesting parties in your area of residence. Children are welcome! Half of the slots are reserved for people living on low incomes. Suggested (optional) donation per participant: $5-$25 sliding scale .

Group & Benefit Harvests

Portland Fruit Tree Project announces expanded opportunities for group harvesting!
In addition to our general harvesting parties, PFTP works with community partners to arrange harvesting parties with organized groups.

Group Harvests:
Our Group Harvest Program is designed to serve low income and food insecure populations through partnerships with organizations serving this audience. Some of our partners this year will include: Sisters of the Road Cafe, JOIN, Project Grow, and Impact NW.

Benefit Harvests:
PFTP is pleased to announce our new ‘Benefit Harvest’ program. These harvesting events are tailored for corporate/university/faith groups that want to provide a valuable volunteer service to the community, engage in a meaningful group activity, and support the unique work of the Portland Fruit Tree Project with a matching contribution. Some of our partners this year will include Moss Adams LLP, and Lewis & Clark College.

Is your organization is interested in arranging a Group Harvest or Benefit Harvest?
Please contact Katy for more information: katy@portlandfruit.org, 503-284-6106.
Group & Benefit Harvests are being scheduled now through November.
