How it works:
Once we receive your completed registration form, we add your tree(s) to our database.
As harvesting season approaches, we will contact you to schedule a Harvesting Party or Open Harvest dates. Harvesting parties are organized by neighborhood and expected ripening dates. See below for more information.
If your fruit is ripening and you have not yet heard from us, please get in touch! Actual ripening dates vary each year, so contacting us when your fruit is ripe can ensure a timely harvest!
Please note: We will do our best to harvest as many trees as possible, but we can not promise that we will get to your tree(s) this year. We appreciate your patience as our organization grows!
Harvesting Options:
Harvesting Parties
A fun & easy way to share your fruit!
Great for trees in yards or parking strips.
An organized group of volunteers will come and harvest your tree on a pre-arranged day and time. We will be in touch to find out when your fruit is ripe & arrange a harvest date. You are encouraged to join the fun, but it’s not necessary.
Harvest parties are usually open to the public, but all participants will be trained in proper harvesting methods and sign a waiver of liability.
Open Harvest
Great for trees in parking strips!
Your tree will be added to a list of fruit & nut trees in Portland, which will be available to Fruit Tree Project volunteers.
People will be welcomed to harvest from your tree any day during a given time period, but are asked to respect the following guidelines:
No Harvest
If you don’t want/need harvesting help at this time, this is the choice for you.
People with young trees might choose this option, and switch to Harvesting Parties or Open Harvest when their tree grows. You can change your harvesting option choice at any time.
